Established in 1992, the Australasian Sonographers Association (ASA) is the peak body representing sonographers in Australia and New Zealand with over 8,000 members.
As a not-for-profit membership organisation, the ASA is committed to developing the sonography profession to deliver better health outcomes through ultrasound.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
The Policy Officer is a 0.8 FTE position. Reporting to the General Manager, Policy and Advocacy, the Policy Officer will undertake research, policy and advocacy work that proactively influences policy affecting the sonography profession. This includes:
- Researching and writing submissions, reports, briefs and other policy documents.
- Answering member and external queries on policy matters relevant to the sonography profession and workforce.
- Writing policy and advocacy related content for member communications.
- Proactively staying across the government and policy landscape.
- Working with members and other sector stakeholders to achieve strategic policy outcomes.
- Providing secretariat support to ASA policy committees as required.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Degree qualified in public policy, economics, social science or other relevant field.
- 3+ years’ policy experience - ideally in a member-based organisation, not for profit organisation, government department.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with proven ability to write submissions, position papers and other policy documents.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team with a flexible approach to sharing tasks.
- Good research and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage daily workload, show attention to detail and meet deadlines within specific time frames.
- Capacity to work collaboratively within a professional association environment.
- Must have unlimited working rights in Australia.
