About the Organisation

The Alcohol and Other Drug Consumer & Community Coalition (AODCCC) is the peak body for alcohol and other drug, consumer and community led Systemic Advocacy in Western Australia. Our aim is to empower the voices of consumers, their families, carers, and significant others, to promote the interests, education, and welfare of those affected by alcohol and other drug use.

About the Role

As an AODCCC Management Committee member, you will:

  • Attend Management Committee Meetings, on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.
  • Understand and comply with the organisation's constitution, by-laws, and policies.
  • Ensure the organisation complies with relevant incorporation, charity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and organisational direction.
  • Monitor organisational performance against strategic objectives.
  • Approve key policies, budgets, and operational plans.
  • Manage risks and ensure appropriate governance systems are in place.
  • Maintain confidentiality and manage conflicts of interest.
  • Be available to attend Subcommittee meetings, min 4 times per year.
  • Operate within the scope of our Mission and Values.

We’re looking for someone who has one or several of the following:

  • Has experience working with and engaging diverse regional and remote communities
  • Has a background in Law
  • Has experience in fundraising, grant applications, identifying and engaging philanthropic opportunities.
  • Has a lived and or living experience of alcohol and other drug use, or that of a family, carer or significant other.

Specific Lived-Experience Representative Functions

Where committee members are selected because of their personal or community experience of alcohol and other drugs, tasks may also include:

  • Sharing lived experience perspectives to inform governance decisions.
  • Testing whether policies and strategies reflect community realities.
  • Identifying barriers faced by service users and affected families, carers and significant others.
  • Advocating for peer-led and community-led approaches.
  • Ensuring the organisation remains accountable to the community it represents

Candidates will be required to meet with AODCCC Management Committee representatives for an interview. If successful they will then be required to present the following items:

  • Recent police clearance, (please note a criminal history will not be an automatic barrier, a lived and living experienced context will be applied in considering the suitability of the applicant)
  • Directors ID
  • ASIC Banned and disqualified register check
