About the Role 

We are seeking a Specialist Foster Carer to provide a medium to long-term foster placement for a young person in our care. 

This is a unique and meaningful opportunity for people with experience in caring roles (e.g. youth work, education, community services, health or allied health) who are looking to apply their skills in a home-based setting and make a lasting difference.

The role requires someone who can offer consistency, structure and a genuine sense of belonging, while working alongside a dedicated care team to support complex needs.

About the Young Person

‘Brodie’ (name changed to protect privacy) is a 12-year-old currently living in residential care and ready to transition into a family environment. He is a warm, social and engaging young person who enjoys connection and thrives when adults take a genuine interest in him. He enjoys music, Soccer and AFL, video games, YouTube and Cobra Kai. Brodie has a strong desire to feel part of a family and to belong. 

How You Can Help 

Brodie has experienced trauma and presents with complex needs. He currently attends school part‑time. He also has ADHD, which means he needs help with impulse control, emotional regulation and consistency. He is highly social and wants to fit in, and at times can be easily influenced by others. With the right guidance, structure and supervision, Brodie responds well to positive adult relationships.

This is an opportunity to help a young person move from residential care into a stable family home and rewrite his future.

Support Provided

You will be well supported in this role and not expected to manage alone. Anglicare Victoria provides:

• Comprehensive foster care training
• A tax-free reimbursement of approximately $1,800 per fortnight 
• 24/7 on-call support
• Regular planned respite
• A professional care team committed to long-term stability and success 

Key Selection Criteria

We are seeking people who can: 

• Provide a safe, stable and nurturing home
• Support a young person with complex behaviours and needs
• Offer structure, consistency and supervision
• Be at home or work flexibly to accommodate part-time schooling

Experience or a background in Social Work, Youth Work, Counselling, Education or Health/Community Services will be highly regarded.
