Your Impact

As a valued member of Shared Services, you'll be the trusted lead for enterprise risk, compliance and assurance, driving a proactive and resilient approach to governance across the ALS. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, and working closely with the Board, Executives and senior leaders, you'll strengthen organisational capability, support strategic decision-making and help safeguard the organisation's mission and future success. Each day, you will:

  • Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of enterprise risk, compliance and assurance frameworks, policies and systems.
  • Drive a proactive risk culture by embedding risk management into strategic planning, decision-making and day-to-day operations.
  • Partner with Executives, senior leaders and the Board to strengthen governance, accountability, organisational resilience and compliance oversight.
  • Oversee enterprise risk registers, compliance obligations, controls, incidents and assurance activities, ensuring effective monitoring and timely action.
  • Deliver high-quality reporting, insights and advice on key risks, emerging issues, regulatory changes and control effectiveness.
  • Build organisational capability through training, coaching and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen risk and compliance practices across the ALS.

Your Story & Strengths

You are an experienced risk leader who drives accountability, strengthens controls and embeds continuous improvement across complex organisations. You bring strong expertise in enterprise risk and compliance, influencing senior leaders and strategic decisions. You respect the cultural, social and historical context of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and you combine technical excellence with a deep commitment to justice, community impact and organisational integrity. Key strengths include:

  • Extensive experience (7–10+ years) in enterprise risk, compliance, governance or assurance within complex environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ERM frameworks, governance principles, regulatory requirements and compliance management systems.
  • Proven ability to design, implement and mature risk and compliance frameworks, and operate as a trusted SME influencing Boards and senior leaders.
  • Highly developed analytical, reporting and communication skills, with experience delivering clear, actionable Board-level insights.
  • Capability to work autonomously as a sole risk lead, driving continuous improvement and embedding effective frameworks in evolving environments.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and required clearances, with cultural awareness and respect for Aboriginal communities and practices.
