As a Compliance and Privacy Officer you will support the development, implementation and maintenance of the policies and procedures within the Education Division to ensure that the College meets its compliance obligations under various legislative frameworks as well as industry best practice with a view to reducing and managing risk across all areas of operation.

Selection Criteria

Essential: 

  • Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in a compliance role within the Australian Higher Education sector, including knowledge of the regulatory requirements administered by TEQSA and associated Higher Education legislation and standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience interpreting and applying legislative and regulatory requirements, including the ability to provide practical advice and develop organisational responses to new or revised compliance obligations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, reviewing, implementing and monitoring policies, procedures and compliance frameworks to ensure organisational compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience acting in, or supporting, a Privacy Officer function, including knowledge of the Privacy Act 1988, Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), privacy impact assessments, data breaches, and ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgement when handling sensitive, personal and organisational information.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage compliance monitoring, risk identification, investigations, reporting and corrective actions within a regulated environment.
  • Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to influence, advise and collaborate effectively with staff at all levels and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess complex issues, identify risks and develop practical, compliant solutions.

Desirable

  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience using student management systems and other compliance-related systems.
  • A proactive, self-motivated and continuous improvement approach, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of compliance and privacy initiatives.
