The Opportunity

We are looking for a creative and passionate Social Media Coordinator to join our team on a voluntary basis. Reporting to and working closely with our Marketing and Communications Manager, you will help shape BTA’s digital presence by creating and fostering a safe, supportive online community.

This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their social media portfolio, gain experience in the NFP sector, or dedicate their skills to a meaningful cause. You will be part of a kind, collaborative team that values lived experience and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation and Copywriting: Draft trauma-informed social media copy and design engaging assets (using Canva Pro) that align with BTA’s brand and tone, ensuring content aligns with evidence-based research into best performing in our sector.
  • Scheduling and Execution: Coordinate the annual, monthly and weekly posting schedule across our social channels to maintain consistent engagement and growth.
  • Community Management: Monitor and respond to comments and messages to ensure our online space remains inclusive, respectful, and supportive.
  • Storytelling: Help curate and share lived-experience stories ethically and safely.
  • Campaign Support: Assist in the delivery of key awareness and fundraising campaigns, such as Birth Trauma Awareness Week.

About You

  • You have a heart, a genuine commitment to our mission, and a sensitive, empathetic communication style.
  • You have strong skills with social media platforms and scheduling tools (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Post Planner) as well as design tools like Canva.
  • You are passionate about social media and digital storytelling, and you spend time monitoring trends and technology in our space.
  • You are eager to learn about trauma-informed marketing and NFP communications.
  • You are organised, reliable, and able to work independently while remaining a proactive team player.

Time Commitment

  • Estimated: 4-6 hours per week (flexible)
  • Flexibility: We understand you likely have other work or family commitments. This role is remote and offers flexible hours to suit your schedule, in consultation with the Marketing and Communications Manager.
