ABOUT US
The Australian Amyloidosis Network is a dynamic not for profit organisation whose goal is to improve the outcome for patients with all types of amyloidosis and related diseases in Australia.
The AAN works in partnership with health professionals, patients,and families from all the States and territories to:
- improve diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for people with amyloidosis.
- provide information and support for health professionals and people affected by amyloidosis and
- undertake amyloidosis research and advocacy.
The AAN has also reached a new stage in its growth and development and is expanding its activities to include services such as a national telephone support line. Some prioritised AAN activities in 2026 include operationalising philanthropic and fund-raising strategies and employing key operational staff such as a General Manager.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Board is seeking expressions of interest for a Board Member with business and financial expertise who can also fulfill financial and audit duties for the organisation.
The Board meets online monthly and Board members are actively engaged in governance, strategy and organisational oversight.
Role overview
- Provide advice, opinions and independent judgment to inform board decisions from a business and financial perspective
Core responsibilities
- Understand the business of the AAN organisation
- Maintain awareness of key developments
- Participate in Board meetings
- Be active in the organisation eg providing advice, opinions and independent judgment to inform board decisions attending functions or events as a representative of an organisation, attend the Annual General Meeting
- Declare and monitor actual or perceived conflicts of interest
- Govern and oversee an organisation’s operations and performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Accounting or equivalent degree desirable

- Commercial and financial expertise
