About the position

The Birribi Residential rehabilitation unit is a 15 bed facility providing a residential AOD program for young people experiencing harm and significant problems relating to their AOD use.

The Manager is responsible for the management of a 24 hour work environment over 7 days of the week. This includes overseeing quality and safety processes. Staffing, rostering, risk assessment and mitigation and ongoing program development.

Based at Birribi Residential rehabilitation unit in Eltham, the Residential Manager - Birribi has a critical role in the development of business intelligence and identification of emerging trends that enable the delivery of high quality and clinically safe services and evidence based decision making within the organisation. The Residential Manager - Birribi holds a formal leadership role and therefore is responsible for inspiring a shared vision, modelling a values based approach, and creating a culture in which new ways of working are encouraged and enabled.

Some of your key responsibilities will be:

  1. Demonstrated capacity to motivate, lead, manage and supervise a multidisciplinary 24/7 staff team including facilitating the positive engagement of staff through equitable recruitment and selection, induction, and performance management.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of statutory and ethical requirements in a mixed gender residential rehabilitation service for young people with problematic substance use.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of treatment, care planning and case management approaches as they relate to therapeutic community principles.
  4. Demonstrated ability to apply reflective practice at an individual, group and organisational level to develop and implement innovative solutions.
  5. Ability to maintain positive stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively with YSAS stakeholders (i.e. young people, local community, government agencies etc.).
  6. Demonstrated capacity in residential rehabilitation program planning, implementation, review and research including financial management and clinical governance.
