AGENCY OVERVIEW

DV West provides a holistic response to women and children who are experiencing domestic and family violence and related homelessness. Our organisation works to prevent and respond to domestic violence through education and evidence-based programs and services. We utilise the principles of empowerment and self-determination to support and advocate for women and children to live lives free from inequality and violence. DV West works across the Penrith/Nepean/Blue Mountains/Blacktown/Hills and Hawkesbury districts.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Aboriginal Manager to provide day-to-day management and operations of our Aboriginal Women and Children’s Refuges across Penrith and Mt Druitt, to commence in February 2024.

The Aboriginal Manager will resource, support and oversee staff’s provision of high-quality services that empower women and children to live lives free from violence and heal in a culturally safe environment. The Aboriginal Manager will report to the Director of Aboriginal Services and Development and work in collaboration with the Leadership Team to implement DV West’s strategies, policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL Criteria

  • Identifies and is accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander woman within the local community;
  • Understands the drivers and gendered nature of violence against women;
  • Management experience in a team-oriented workplace including fostering a spirit of teamwork and unity;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain networks and linkages within the Aboriginal community and with government agencies to advocate and build partnerships;
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles and practices;
  • Experience in preparing periodic written and verbal reports to track strategic goals and fulfil funding requirements;
  • Excellent IT skills and proficiency in working with Microsoft Office programs; and
  • Clear NSW drivers licence, Working with Children and Criminal Record Checks.

EMPLOYMENT AS PER SCHCADS AWARD

Based on 35 hours week pay range for Level 7 Paypoint 1 $110,910 annually and Salary Packaging available.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Confirmation of employment will be subject to candidate's possession of a Current Australian Drivers Licence, Working with Children Check, completed Australian Criminal History Check and provision of COVID-19 vaccination certificate, in line with the DV West COVID Business Continuity Plan, or valid medical exemption, to comply with DV West’s Work Health and Safety requirements.
