About the role 

The Sponsorship and Advertising Officer is accountable for actively seeking out opportunities to acquire sponsorship and advertising revenue to support key major events such as UMSU’s Orientation festivals, alongside an array of student-run events and programs throughout the year. We’re looking for someone who has the organisational skills and creative flair to find and build meaningful relationships with external advertisers who can add value to UMSU’s events and promotions. 

You will be operating under general direction while assuming responsibility for managing stakeholder relationships between UMSU and its sponsors and advertisers. 

Your Key Accountabilities will include:

  • Coordinating the sale of advertising in UMSU digital and printed publications and events in conjunction with the Manager, Communications and Marketing;
  • Providing sponsorship advice and support to staff and student representatives in the pre-event consultation and planning, implementation and evaluation of departmental events;
  • Working collaboratively with students and staff to execute consolidated advertising and sponsorship solutions that are appropriate and relevant; and
  • Ensuring that all advertising content is up to date and produced with a consistent approach to brand, tone of voice and audience engagement principles.

The Sponsorship and Advertising Officer is a key member of UMSU Team and provides sound advice and information on industry’s latest trends to UMSU Staff and student representatives.

About you 

To succeed in this position, you will possess relevant qualifications in Marketing, Advertising or Public Relations coupled with experience in a related field, or a relevant combination of skills knowledge and/or training.

Essential to your success will be your proven track record in procurement of sponsorship for activities and events, successful sale of advertising in digital and printed publications and events and demonstrated ability to develop copy for advertising and other promotional material.

The successful candidate will be someone who can identify and promote best practice within the sponsorship and advertising space, is able to work to clear objectives in a transparent manner, ensure their outputs are delivered in an environment of respect for colleagues, students and student representatives.

This is a part time (17.5 hours per week), fixed term position with a starting base salary of $72,000 plus superannuation.
