The Opportunity

Stand Up is seeking passionate, values-driven board members based in Melbourne or Sydney.

We are particularly seeking individuals with expertise in philanthropy or marketing and communications, though we welcome applicants with diverse professional backgrounds who bring energy, commitment, and strategic insight.

Desired Expertise (one or more of the following)

1. Community Philanthropy / Fundraising

• Experience in philanthropic engagement, donor relations, fundraising strategy, or NFP revenue development.
• Understanding of community giving trends, major gifts, or institutional fundraising.

2. Marketing / Branding / Communications

• Experience developing brand strategy, campaigns, digital engagement or organisational storytelling.
• Ability to guide and strengthen Stand Up’s public profile and community reach.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the strategic direction and governance of Stand Up.
• Provide oversight of organisational performance, financial sustainability, and risk.
• Champion Stand Up within the Jewish and broader Australian communities.
• Participate in board committees aligned to your skills (e.g., Fundraising, Marketing, Governance).
• Support the CEO and leadership team as trusted advisers.

Time Commitment

• Approximately 6–8 board meetings per year (virtual and/or in-person).
• Occasional fundraising, community, or organisational events.
• Additional committee involvement depending on your chosen sub-committee.
