About the Role

A rewarding opportunity exists to join one of Australia’s largest operating charities on a full-time basis. As a Case Worker you will report to the Women’s Services Coordinator based at The Marian Centre in Lewisham.

The Marian Centre Women’s Refuge is a Special Work of the St Vincent de Paul Society, NSW.  The service provides crisis accommodation and outreach support for women and children escaping domestic violence and/or homelessness. As a Case Worker, you will be responsible for case managing allocated residents during their stay at the Centre, providing support and advocating on their behalf to relevant government and non-government services.

What you need

• Welfare or Social Work qualifications and relevant experience
• Sound written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of  domestic violence/homelessness and its effects on women and children
• Ability to provide support to women and children in crises, including emotional, physical and child care support
• Ability to work independently and as a part of the team
• Ability to implement the case management approach
• Knowledge of issues facing women who many have a mental health or drug/alcohol addiction.
• Understanding issues facing women from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Ability to liaise with local community agencies
• Current Driver’s licence (minimum Provisional Licence 2)
• Willingness to commit to the philosophy and values of the Society of St Vincent de Paul
