This is a key newly created position within the Queensland Council for LGBTI Health, with location negotiable. This position is an integral member of the QC leadership team, contributing to better outcomes for our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex, Sistergirl and Brotherboy communities in Queensland. This is a community facing role responsible for business development and organisational sustainability across Queensland.

Training and Consulting services: Generate awareness about and identify new clients to expand the reach and grow income for the range of the training and consulting services delivered by QC including but not limited to; 2Spirits Sistergirl and Brotherboy and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural safety programs, and the Queer Without Fear, Silver Rainbow, Rainbow Pride @Work Program, Trans, Gender diverse and Non-Binary consulting and training services.

Identifying and scoping prospective clinical and community partners to expand regional health services: Based on an established selection criteria the role will work closely with the CEO to identify and qualify potential clinical partners to expand the range clinical and mental health services provided to the LGBTIQ, Sistergirl and Brotherboy communities in regional Queensland.

The role will work with a diverse, multidisciplinary team to grow the profile of and expand the revenue and reach of the training and consulting services offered by QC.

Your contribution

  • You will work closely with the CEO to grow the profile, reach and revenue of the training and consulting portfolios that QC currently develops or licenses.
  • You will work with the CEO/COO to identify appropriate clinical partnerships and funding opportunities, creating greater access to a range of inclusive and appropriate integrated health and other services for the community.

Required experience and skills for this position

This position requires a demonstrated track record in achieving financial targets, developing strategic and commercial relationships and offering training and consulting services to diverse range of clients and organisations. It is an outwardly focused role, requiring significant client contact, relationship building and management.

  • An understanding of and commitment to the role of peers in the delivery of services to our LGBTIQ Sistergirl and Brotherboy communities and to the values and principles of the organisation.
  • Proven track record of successfully securing new customers, maintaining an existing client base and growing revenue in a solutions sales/business development role, working with multiple external stakeholders in a long sales cycles, preferably in an training, education, health or comparable LGBTIQ Sistergirl and Brotherboy service delivery environment. Previous experience in a business development or B2B solutions sales or similar role would be highly desirable.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, presentation, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to build and maintain good working relationships with key colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset and ability to develop a targeted, actionable client liaison plan and revenue pipeline by geographic region and training that will lead to the achievement of revenue targets associated with the role.
  • Tenacious and highly organised with the capacity to problem solve and manage competing client priorities.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and effectively with a talented, multidisciplinary, diverse group of colleagues who are geographically dispersed to achieve client and organisational outcomes.
  • Good computer skills and proficiency in the MS Office suite.
  • Regular reporting requirements. Ability to provide transparency over activity by tracking key milestones in the business development process and developing and maintaining revenue pipeline reports against agreed financial targets.

Position key duties

This position oversees the following key duties and responsibilities:

  • Strategic and territory planning: Create a business development strategy and action plan in line with QC’s overall strategic goals and priorities. Scope and estimate QC’s market opportunities and produce a structured work plan for securing new business by; market/client segment, and portfolio of training and consulting services.
  • Revenue targets: Achieve revenue targets for training and consulting services through multiple avenues including, through the development of staff and operational systems and capacity.
  • Manage the business development process: From initial targeting of prospective clients, contact and communications, presentations, contract negotiations, implementation, referrals and repeat engagements.
  • Reporting and Transparency: Develop systems to track, plan and regularly report on the sales pipeline and progress against key client relationship milestones.
  • Innovation, new product development and continuous improvement: Provide market feedback on training and consulting services to improve existing training, and identify needs that can be translated or adapted into new training offerings.
  • Manage existing training licensing agreements and identify opportunities to license and deliver new offerings from other territories or providers.
  • In conjunction with the Social Marketing and Communications Officer, contribute to the develop of client facing marketing communications messaging, tools and campaigns to promote the services.
  • Clinical Partners: Identify suitable partners to support the expansion of clinical and mental health services throughout regional Queensland. Provide research and recommendations for potential future partners, and support follow up communications and negotiations led by the CEO and scoped by the COO.

Working from Home

This position allows for a mixture of home based and office-based hours (location negotiable).

This role will require some travel within regional Queensland. A willingness to travel is a requirement of the role.

The Team You Work With – Individuals Team

Contribution: Our Individuals Services Team is the cornerstone of all our client facing services. It is a multi-disciplinary team of physiological, mental health, and support practitioners. Its role is vital in QC providing high quality, judgment free health and well-being services to our communities.

The Team You Work With – Communities Team

Contribution: The Community portfolio encompasses LGBTI Sistergirl and Brotherboy programs that provide information and campaigns, social and peer connection, safer sex resources and a range of other health promotion initiatives, funded through a variety of local, statewide and federal grants with a diversity of reporting requirements. The programs this portfolio oversees includes the Community Visitors Scheme, Aged Care Systems Navigator program supporting and advocating for Aged Care Systems access, a RRR (recognise, respond and refer) program to build the capacity of GPs around recognising the special needs of LGBTI Sistergirl and Brotherboy Domestic Violence issues, an LGBTI Sistergirl and Brotherboy Information Linkages and Capacity program, a Training and Consulting program and Silver Rainbow project activities, and various health promotion activities for Transgender, Gender Diverse and Non-Binary people, men who have sex with men, and community connection activities and events such as World AIDS Day.

Contribution: Our 2Spirits Team is the heart of the organisation and its work to support our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Queensland. Its role is central to the broader QC team being able to achieve our goal of providing support to people wherever they are in their life journey in a way that is culturally safe and embedded with indigenous ways of working.
