About the Role

We are looking for dedicated Disability Support Worker on a part time basis, who are interested in providing high quality, flexible support with a focus on enhancing the lives of people living with a disability in Gladstone.

The role of Disability Support Worker is to actively support the individual needs of people who access Life Without Barriers' disability services through supporting and promoting their skills and abilities, providing support with activities of daily living and developing, implementing and monitoring their Individual Plan.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Certificate III in Community Welfare, or similar, or willingness to complete this within first 2 years of employment.
  • A current Senior First Aid Certificate.
  • A current unrestricted Driver Licence.
  • A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities and personal goals of people with disabilities.
  • Commitment to the values of dignity, respect, inclusion, empowerment, confidentiality and strength-based practice.
  • A professional and positive outlook about direct care work.
  • The ability to develop a positive relationship with service users and to support their Individual Personal Plan.
  • Ability to apply the objects and principles of the Disability Services Act (2006).
  • Good communication skills including the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (including families of service users).
  • Ability to maintain service user privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work within and demonstrate the Life Without Barriers Way in all interactions and tasks.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
