About HCCA

The Health Care Consumers’ Association has been a voice for health care consumers in the Canberra region since 1978. We work to ensure consumer perspectives and expertise are heard at all levels of health service design and planning, policy development, research, and service delivery.

We have a committed and active membership base and a talented staff team, working together to bring about systemic change. Respect, inclusion and diversity are central to who we are, as is sustaining and valuing the contribution of our members and keeping consumers at the centre of our work.

HCCA currently manages a diverse portfolio of programs and activities that are central to our roles in health promotion, representation and systemic advocacy. As we approach our 50th anniversary, we will look to our new Executive Director to build on the organisation's strong foundations and sustain our reputation, strategic relationships, and impact into the future.

About the role

The Executive Director will lead HCCA as a well-governed, effective, and financially sound consumer organisation. Reporting to the Executive Committee, the role spans strategic leadership, governance, operational management, stakeholder engagement and relationships and staff management.

  • Are you able to balance aspiration and pragmatism as you juggle the pressures of the role, the diversity of consumer interests, and the complexity of the health system?
  • Can you inspire and motivate others to come on board and help them appreciate the nonlinear and at times slow progress that is the reality of working for systems change?
  • Can you demonstrate you are courageous when it matters and can make hard decisions when needed?

If the answer is yes, and you have the requisite skills and experience, we encourage you to apply.
