Endometriosis is a common disease where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows outside it in other parts of the body. More than 830,000 (more than 11%) of Australian women suffer from endometriosis at some point in their life, with the disease often starting in teenagers.
Endometriosis Australia is Australia’s premier not-for-profit organisation supporting Australian women and gender diverse people affected by endometriosis through advocacy, education, research and fundraising.
Endometriosis Australia has grown its revenue base, run highly successful awareness-raising events and government relations campaigns, established a research grants scheme, and built a strong media profile thanks to support from philanthropic organisations, passionate donors and volunteers.
The Endometriosis Australia board is seeking two suitably qualified and experienced voluntary directors that have the time and commitment to work with us to improve the health and healthcare for individuals, families and communities affected by endometriosis.
Endometriosis Australia is seeking to appoint one voluntary, independent non-executive director with background experience in the following area:
The role will involve actively participating in bi-monthly board meetings, which are currently held virtually. In addition, directors are expected to be a member of one of various committees, hold responsibility for a particular area of expertise, and be charged with occasional operational duties delegated by the board.
The role requires both strategic and operational management skills, strong collaboration and a commitment to making a difference in endometriosis awareness, management and research.
