Darebin City Council is hiring a Senior Biodiversity Officer to develop and provide strategic advice around biodiversity and natural heritage. Make a direct impact on our community as part of the Climate Emergency and Sustainable Transport team.

About the role

You will be responsible for providing strategic advice relating to biodiversity and natural heritage. You will also provide executive support to the Darebin Nature Trust; in relation to planning applications and the development of Council policies and plans including urban revitalisation plans, and the Open Space Strategy.

To be successful you will have

  • Experience in community engagement, where you have the skills to raise awareness of our biodiversity initiatives in our community.
  • An understanding of environmental legislative requirements and policies, specifically surrounding biodiversity and natural heritage as they relate to local government.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder engagement across a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Project management, development and implementation experience, including risk, resource and budget management.
