  • Salary Range $115,566 to $132,153 + 17% superannuation (pro rata for part-time)

About the position

The Clinical Family Therapist and Systemic Practice Consultant will provide advanced systemic family therapy, both rapid-access (Walk-in Together clinics) and multi-session, for families with complex needs. In addition, the incumbent will facilitate systemic practice learning and development opportunities through our Practice and Service Development program, including training and supervision. Responsibilities include managing caseloads, supporting service development and innovation, contributing to postgraduate teaching, and being an active participant in regular clinical and Centre meetings.   

This position is based within the Family Therapy Services team at The Bouverie Centre, La Trobe University — a unique practice-research-translation centre within the School of Psychology and Public Health within La Trobe University and a statewide specialist mental health service for Victorian families.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • A Masters of Clinical Family Therapy or equivalent postgraduate training and at least 5 years experience in family therapy.
  • Eligibility for Clinical Membership of the Australian Association of Family Therapists
  • Highly developed specialist family therapy knowledge, skills, and significant experience in the provision of family therapy services in child and adolescent or adult mental health services; or drug and alcohol services and/or skills in working with trauma, abuse and child protection related issues from a systemic perspective; and/or dual diagnosis from a family sensitive perspective.
  • Commitment to the provision of high quality, responsive and ethical services to families
  • Demonstrated skills in teaching family therapy.
  • Demonstrated capacity to contribute and work in cohesive teams
