The Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation (ALPA), is owned by the Yolngu people of East Arnhem Land and governed by an Indigenous Board of Directors. From humble beginnings over 46 years ago, ALPA has grown to become the largest Aboriginal Corporation in Australia. We now have over 1,200 employees (over 80% of whom are Indigenous), and a 1.2 million square kilometre operational footprint.

The Homelands Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of the Community Development Program activities and case management in the Homelands. The role is integral in the delivery of CDP in the Homelands and is a major component of CDP's engagement with the wider community undertaking regular consultation with the community leadership.

The ultimate objective of the Homelands Coordinator is to support the Homelands to achieve their community goals and aspirations through meaningful community engagement, quality case management and development of high-quality activities. The Homelands Coordinator will support CDP to improve the quality of life of participants and increased support for them to access services in the community. The Homelands Coordinator will work to the success of ALPA and the Board's vision for Arnhem Land.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supervision of Homelands Supervisors by providing support in the delivery of activities through mentoring, training and identifying areas for professional development
  • Collaboration with Supervisors to identify areas for improvement and promoting ideas and new concepts in line with community aspirations and goals
  • Working with Participants in a culturally sensitive manner to achieve their goals
  • Undertaking all caseload tasks including JSCI's and job plans and all related administrative tasks to ensure that all KPI's are met
  • Develop, build and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Provide high-quality reporting, if and when required to the Site Manager

Ideally, the successful candidate will possess high-level communication and interpersonal skills coupled with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Knowledge and understanding of Community Development Program Contracts will be the key to your success, as is, experience working within communities and with vulnerable people.

A tertiary qualification in Community Services, or, equivalent experience, will be highly regarded.

Please note that the successful incumbent will be required to travel (extensively) within remote communities in East and West Arnhem regions so, the willingness and ability to fly in light aircraft or by 4WD vehicle, is essential.
