- 9-month fixed term parental leave contract
The Australian Services Union is tens of thousands of workers who have united to protect and improve our wages and conditions. We work across the disability and community sectors, public transport and water and the private sector.
We are looking to employ an experienced Design and Communications Officer for a 9-month fixed term parental leave contract (June 2023 to February 2024) who will be responsible for communicating the story of our members. The position is available either full time 35 hours per week or part time 4 days per week.
The role requires the design of an extensive variety of print materials as well as content for social media and our website.
You should be well versed in every aspect of the creative process from idea and concept formulation, through to development and execution of polished work.
The role demands creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and software as well as a professional approach to time and deadlines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design
- Develop materials (e.g. print, merchandise, social media, video) that are exciting, engaging, and consistent with the ASU brand.
Social media
- Create visually impactful, responsive and on-brand content for the ASU’s social media channels (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter). This includes graphic, image and video content.
Website content management
Work with the digital team to manage our websites' content, keeping it not only up to date with ASU activities but aesthetically compelling.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma level or higher in Design, Communications or similar.
- High level fluency in the Adobe creative suit (illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign are a must).
- Experience producing digital and print assets.
- Competence in various content management systems i.e., Nation Builder and Wordpress.
- Work effectively in a team and independently driven.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills.
- Ability to assess and negotiate competing priorities while working towards deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to liaise with team members on content, quality and opportunities for improvement.
- Basic HTML.
Desirable
- Understanding of After Effects and Premier.
- Understanding of video editing apps for social media (CapCut, Splice, etc).
- Problem solving skills (i.e will Google issues).
- Experience in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Microsoft Forms).
CONDITIONS
- 9-month fixed term parental leave contract.
- Full time 35 hours per week or part time 4 days per week.
- Commencing salary $86,520 pa plus 11% superannuation (pro-rata for part time).
- Redfern based – close to public transport.
