Professionals Australia members are at the cutting edge of solving community problems and delivering infrastructure including renewable energy, mass transit systems, water security and community infrastructure. We are piloting many initiatives, and are working closely with the ACTU.
Professionals Australia’s National Office is based in South Melbourne, with offices in capital cities around Australia – this position is based in our National Office.
The Job:
To support and co-develop digital campaign strategy for Professionals Australia’s campaigns, lead our social media presence, mobilise support for our work, and recruit new members and activists to Professionals Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-develop and implement digital campaign strategies
- Support Campaign Directors to drive impact in all digital campaigns actions
- Manage and implement a strategy around Professionals Australia’s social media challenges
- Create digital content that supports our campaigns
Digital platform management
- Digital community management – knowledge of Nation Builder
- Coordination of social media and strategy
- Work to establish digital networks of existing and potential members
- Identify leads for membership recruitment and activism
- Support state-specific campaigns
Coordinating Professionals Australia’s digital communities and building capacity
- Manage our digital campaigns training
- Continue to grow Professionals Australia digital communities
- Equip field staff with necessary digital skills
Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge
Essential
Digital Communications
- A track record in, and passion for, digital communications and storytelling to mobilise people for action and to build supporter relationships for future mobilisation and membership recruitment.
- Proven experience of writing and editing content for websites, mobile, email and social media.
- Skills in creating digital content (including basic video content), making sound judgements and publishing without supervision.
- Experience of working with content management systems.
- Proficient in Google Analytics, analysing data and making decisions which bring about positive change.
- A solid understanding of SEO techniques, user experience and web accessibility.
- Experience of using social media, and various monitoring tools, to improve engagement
- Experience of using creative suites – such as Adobe, and video editing programs.
- Ability to design, coordinate and lead in the delivery of digital trainings and capacity building across Professionals Australia with relevant staff. This will include arranging training webinars
Leadership:
- Developing strategies and plans for communication and measuring effectiveness
- Demonstrable organisational and project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects to deadlines
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to manage several demanding projects, priorities and deadlines.

- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with demonstrable ability to lead, influence and motivate others
- Flexible, and able to respond quickly to opportunities
- Good communicator, able to negotiate clearly and confidently with colleagues at all levels of seniority, and with external suppliers and support teams
Other
- A demonstrated commitment to union values
Desirable
- Digital fundraising experience
- An understanding of web design principles.
- Experience in website usability, user testing
- Ability to translate audience and marketing intelligence data into practical action (eg. member recruitment)
- Basic understanding of WordPress, HTML, and CSS
