Film Release / Marketing Manager (Paid Position)

The Australian Environmental Films Association (AEFA)

Short Summary

We are looking for an experienced person to facilitate and manage the release for a series of short films developed by the Australian Environmental Films Association. This film release manager role is a short-term position (approx 6 hours/week across 6 weeks, excluding Christmas and New Year period - hours per week is negotiable) with an anticipated start date for late November.

The key focus for this role is to develop, in consultation with the project team, and deliver the release of short films created to support meaningful climate action and foster pro-environmental attitudes and behaviours, particularly within the City of Yarra. We are looking for someone who will be a team player, who takes initiative, and has a passion for climate action.

ABOUT AEFA

The Australian Environmental Films Association is a Melbourne-based, volunteer-run not-for-profit that makes environmental films. These films increase connection with nature, inspire people to live sustainably and create systems change. Our vision is to help create an Australia in which we all value nature and our place within it, and all decisions are made with consideration for the environment.

THE PROJECT

Community-based initiatives are a crucial part of meaningful climate action. Each year, the City of Yarra supports a range of initiatives through their Climate Action Grants, aiming to promote climate action among members of the local community. The first project includes two films that follow successful grant recipients and highlight the power of their initiatives in taking meaningful climate action and fostering pro-environmental attitudes and behaviours. The third project involves a series of short vox pop films aimed at exploring consumption habits to prompt behaviour change and reduce waste within the community.

These projects will have two major outcomes. Firstly, the City of Yarra initiatives will be exposed to a wider audience, growing their impact by increasing awareness and support. Secondly, increased exposure to the films will inspire others to undertake behaviour change and initiate their own climate action work.

The project film release dates are expected to happen across two waves. Wave 1: The release of short films promoting local climate action initiatives in the City of Yarra are planned for release in late November to mid December. Wave 2: The release of vox pop films are planned for release in mid January.

Project completion of all film releases is estimated for the end of February, 2023.
