ABOUT YDA

Youth Development Australia Ltd (YDA) was created in 2005 as a platform for change and as a way of exploring, developing and implementing innovative youth development initiatives. YDA has a foundational commitment to disadvantaged young Australians. The participation of young people in the building of their future is a core value. ABOUT THE ROLE

The Treasurer:

  • Chairs the Finance and Audit Sub-Committee
  • Reviews quarterly financial reports prior to them going to the Board for discussion and approval
  • Advise on financial policies and procedures
  • Review annual budget process and 6-monthly reforecasts
  • Review annual financial reports and annual audit
  • Advise on key changes to regulations or legislation relating to accounting or audit standards, ATO, ACNC or Fair Work
  • Advise on financial regulatory and legislative obligations
  • Ensure that the organisation meets all of it’s reporting requirements

It is desirable that the Treasurer is a practicing CPA or CA and has experience in accounting and financial management in the non-for-profit sector.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Successful Working with Children Check, including National Police Check and referee checks.
  • A commitment to YDA’s vision and mission and readiness to comply with the YDA Code of Conduct.
  • A readiness to comply with YDA governance policies and procedures.

ACCESSIBILITY

Meetings are held via zoom and occasionally in-person at our office in Brunswick, Victoria. Meetings are held on the ground floor to ensure accessibility.

This is a governance and oversight role and does not include day-to-day financial operations.
