Youth Futures has been providing support services in Western Australia since 1988. We currently provide 30 programs and services across three core streams; Homelessness, Education and Training and Well-being and Support.

We have been delivering appropriate education programs for disengaged and at-risk young people since 2001 through the Anchor Point Program, Comet CaRE Schools and Youth Futures Community School.

We are seeking an additional Clinical Psychologist or Registrar to join our team of Clinical Psychologists in the Youth Needs Assessment Service (YNAS) who provide psychological support to young people within Youth Futures education programs.

*For this role we are willing to consider candidates who are currently completing a Master’s or Doctorate of Psychology (Clinical) and are registered as a provisional psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). The role would be best suited to provisional psychologists who are due to complete their degree shortly and would continue with Youth Futures to complete their Clinical Psychology Registrar program.

You will carry out assessments to appraise psychosocial functioning of young people (13-20 years) including behavioural observations, clinical interview and psychometric assessments in accordance with the Australian Psychological Society Guidelines. You will also carry a caseload of clients and provide individual, group or family intervention as clinically indicated. You will operate as part of a multidisciplinary team which will involve consultation on psychological matters with colleagues and liaison with external services regarding case management of clients.

You will generally work with young people who are already engaged in an existing Youth Futures service, program or initiative, as part of a holistic client centred model of service delivery. 

Essential Criteria

  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in Psychology (Clinical); or close to completion
  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Experience in clinical psychological assessment, therapy and interview techniques
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team
  • Current Working with Children's Check
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current Driver Licence 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Efficient time management skills
  • Working knowledge of relevant Government Acts, Legislation and Policies

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience in a youth focused setting
  • AHPRA Registration and endorsement in clinical psychology (inc Registrar)
  • Experience working with young people where child protection issues exist
  • Demonstrated ability to provide counselling where abuse and trauma have been experienced.

The position is to commence as soon as possible. The position is full time usually within the hours of 8.00am-4.00pm and will be based in the Joondalup area.

Youth Futures/Youth Futures Community School/Comet are registered charities and can offer excellent Fringe Benefits opportunities including salary sacrifice/packaging. The base Full Time rate for this position is $80,000 to $105,000 depending on qualifications and relevant experience.
