Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people strongly encouraged to apply.
Yorgum was established in 1991 by a group of Aboriginal women, some of whom worked in women’s refuges, who were concerned about the lack of appropriate counselling support for Aboriginal people experiencing spiritual, emotional and psychological pain. They founded a service with a ‘healing’ approach rather than an ongoing, crisis-driven ‘patch-up’ approach.
Yorgum offers all Aboriginal people and their families autonomous, community-based healing services that are culturally secure, trauma-informed and work within an Aboriginal Family Worldview.
The Intake Officer is the first point of contact for clients, families, and referrers seeking Yorgum’s services. The role is responsible for managing referrals, completing intake assessments, providing culturally safe information, and ensuring clients are connected to the most appropriate supports.
This position plays a key role in welcoming clients into Yorgum, ensuring their experience is respectful, supportive, and aligned with our values.
To be considered for the role, you will be able to demonstrate the following experience and abilities:
Yorgum is committed to the protection of children and young people.
