About our community
Yugul Mangi Development Aboriginal Corporation was established on 10 April 2008 to develop the social, economic, governance and cultural well-being of the Ngukurr community. On the northern side of the Roper River, these lands extend from Blue Mud Bay across toward Bulman, down the Wilton River Valley to Roper River and out to the Gulf. On the southern side of the river the lands extend from the west of Buddawka to the Hodgson River and includes the Towns River and Limmen National Park and the Marla Land Trust.
We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager who will work directly under the Chief Financial Officer and will provide commercial expertise to ensure profitability future growth and protecting the integrity of the corporation's financial transactions and business dealings. The role will plan, establish and review the financial and accounting activities and financial systems within the corporation in conjunction with the CFO.
The role will be based in our Cairns office, and you will be working with a dynamic professional team in a harmonious working environment.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Good commercial perspective and understanding of critical success factors for the corporation, the measures that indicate how well the corporation is performing, the full financial impact of decisions', and the ability to identify and manage business risk.
- The ability to concisely articulate a clear understanding of the corporation's economics in context of the industry, changing macroeconomic environment and strategic goals
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Skills in budget creation and negotiation in line with government guidelines.
- The ability to drive corporate governance, ethics, management assurance and fiduciary issues.
- Well organised and able to work to deadlines.
- Systems oriented and able to operate efficient financial organisations capable of processing transactions, maintain controls and reporting results.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and relate to people at all levels.
- Provide reports, analyse and make recommendations to the CFO and the CEO on results against plan to enable effective decision making by management.
- Ensure suitable cash forecasting and reporting systems and processes are in place to optimize the business cash position.
- In conjunction with the CFO manage the due diligence process and conduct financial due diligence and ensure legal requirements are met and liabilities identified.
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Business/Accounting/Commerce or similar discipline.
- A breadth of experience in commercial matters, management accounting, financial accounting. payroll, workers compensation and statutory reporting.
- Proven technical financial/accounting skills in areas of responsibility.
- Northern Territory Working with Children Clearance
- National Police Criminal History Check
- Demonstrated currency and job specific vaccinations.
- Demonstrated commitment to work respectfully and inclusively with Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse people.
