About WynBay LLEN

WynBay LLEN (Wyndham and Hobsons Bay Local Learning & Employment Network) is one of 31 LLENs across Victoria.

LLENs are independent incorporated associations, each governed by a local Committee of Management, representing its members, which includes groups and organisations such as local schools, local government, Learn Local, TAFE, other education and training providers, business, industry, and community agencies.

LLENs were established in 2001, to be independent brokers of partnerships support increased transition outcomes in cohorts of young people from school to further education, training or employment. WynBay LLEN is the broker, facilitator and administrator of two VETDSS clusters comprising 23 schools across Wyndham and Hobsons Bay.

School to Work Program

The Victorian Government funds each of the 31 LLENs to deliver the 2023-2025 School to Work Program in order to engage industry.and schools to build connections that support access to work-based learning opportunities that meet the needs of local students and local industry, including:

  • Work Experience, Structured Workplace Learning (SWL), and school-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SBATs) for government school students in collaboration with the Head Start program.
  • Events and activities that directly expose students to industry, such as workplace visits, careers events and guest speakers.
  • Supporting the delivery of networking opportunities that enhance school-industry connections and professional learning related to industries and employment.
  • Supporting delivery of other Senior Secondary Pathways Reforms of the Department related to work-based learning and industry exposure.

job purpose

To work within a small and supportive team to:

  • Sign up employers for student work-based placement opportunities.
  • Engage schools to support the placement of students in work-based learning opportunities using the statewide portal.
  • Innovate and develop new and exciting concepts in work-based learning.

Main duties and Responsibilities

  • Secure work placement opportunities for students, especially in priority industry sectors of new energy, sustainability, health, community services, advanced manufacturing, emerging technologies.
  • Develop and manage relationships with schools participating in the School to Work program.
  • Local travel and face-to-face engagement with employers and schools
  • Represent WynBay LLEN in a professional manner
  • Work collaboratively with WynBay LLEN team members to achieve program goals and activities
  • Respond to communications from stakeholders and team members in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure all relevant databases are up to date.
  • Provide critical information to inform reporting for contracts and partnerships.

Other duties

Fulfil other duties as required to meet the school-to-work contract.

A relevant qualification is desirable.

Experience

Demonstrated experience working in the employment, training, apprenticeships, careers, pathways fields.

Knowledge

Knowledge of the Victorian secondary education system, including careers education and VET delivered in schools.

Knowledge of the Victorian labor market, and the local and emerging labor market in Wyndham and Hobsons Bay, especially in STEM - based sectors (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).

Understand workforce development needs for entry level roles.

Knowledge of the role of the Victorian Local Learning and Employment Networks (or willingness to learn).
