The position

Key role in enabling World Vision Australia (WVA) to grow its significant portfolio of government and multilateral-funded programs through a team of Grants Acquisition & Design Specialists who lead program development design, and high-quality funding proposals. The role requires close collaboration with other World Vision teams – particularly program management and sector specialist teams – as well as with other World Vision offices and partners. You will coach and mentor your team, building the skills of others in grants acquisition, proposal development, and understanding of the requirements of our international donors and partners.

Your role plays an integral part in the organisation, enabling us to support our mission of empowering Australians to create meaningful change for the world’s most vulnerable children and adults.

Your areas of responsibility:

  • Develop and implement WVA’s Institutional Market strategy to drive growth in income, influence, and impact across WVA’s government and multilateral funding streams
  • Lead WVA’s annual ANCP Call for Concepts process, including accountability for strategic investment principles, and concept review and decision making
  • Actively contribute to and learn from World Vision’s Global Grants Acquisition and Management network
  • Build the capabilities within WVA and partner offices to improve the experience of institutional funding partners, and the quality of World Vision Australia grants.
  • Build credible and trusted relationships with prioritised government and multilateral donors and partners, in collaboration with other World Vision stakeholders
  • Mentor and coach the team in the development of high quality and successful proposals and designs that meet donor requirements, whilst aligning with World Vision strengths and priorities
  • Manage the overall bid submission process, and hold direct accountability for ensuring submissions’ completeness, quality, feasibility, and competitiveness
  • Participation in the review and setting of plans and budgets for the Impact Business Development team

Who we’re looking for 

As the successful applicant, you will have a breadth of capabilities, including the ability to influence, negotiate, build and maintain partnership relationships and collaborate.

You will have:

  • Mid to senior level business development experience within a medium to large organisation or consulting firm; acquisition of large-scale grants from public donors
  • Program design or business development experience in the international aid and development sector
  • Experience partnering with government or multilateral agencies, including leading a portfolio of relationships
  • Management experience of small-medium professional teams
  • Understanding of procurement or grants structures and processes of the Australian Government, public service, and/or other international organisations
  • Proposal, grant and/or tender writing experience
  • High success in acquiring funds from investors and donors
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, across a range of audiences
  • Postgraduate qualifications, or equivalent experience, in a relevant discipline, e.g. International Development, International Relations, Economics, Public Health, Evaluation
