About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Case Worker to join our Reconnect team based in Narre Warren. The position is part time working 38 hours per fortnight and is initially maximum term until June 2021.  

Reconnect is an early intervention program that aims to support young people by addressing their experiences of family conflict and social isolation. The program works with both young people and their families to assist building relationships with family members, links to education, employment and community homelessness assistance if return to the family is not possible.

A typical busy day will include:

  • Receiving referrals from community and government organisations such as schools, Child FIRST and Headspace
  • Providing outreach support and advocacy to vulnerable young people in the community
  • Using your communication skills to build rapport with young people and their families
  • Linking young people to education, community group work and other support services
  • Providing family mediation where required
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with other agencies for client referral and support 

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a relevant tertiary qualification in a field related to Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology or equivalent.

  • Describe a time you have needed to be particularly innovative to encourage engagement with a reluctant young person/family. What specific strategies were implemented? What was the outcome?
  • Describe your knowledge and experience working with vulnerable young people exhibiting high risk behaviours
