Centre for Participation is seeking a Disability Pathway Mentor to support people with disability to identify, pursue and achieve their goals through volunteering, learning, community participation, social enterprise and employment pathways.

This exciting new role will play a key part in delivering our YouthAbility project and supporting people with disability to build confidence, self-advocacy skills, community connections and greater independence.

About the Role

As a Disability Pathway Mentor, you will work alongside people with disability to identify goals, build skills and create meaningful pathways that align with their interests and aspirations.

You will support Learners participating in Centre for Participation programs, social enterprises and pathway initiatives, helping them explore opportunities in volunteering, learning, peer workforce development and employment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting participant recruitment, onboarding and goal planning.
  • Developing and reviewing individual pathway plans.
  • Providing mentoring and practical support to Learners.
  • Supporting delivery of the YouthAbility project.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to create positive and inclusive opportunities.
  • Building relationships with families, carers, community organisations and referral partners.
  • Collecting and reporting outcomes that demonstrate social impact.

About You

You are passionate about inclusion and committed to supporting people to achieve their goals.

You may have experience in disability, community services, education, employment services, youth work, social work or a related field.

You will bring:

  • Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting people to develop skills and confidence.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A person-centred and strengths-based approach.
  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A commitment to human rights, inclusion and community participation.

Lived experience of disability, caring responsibilities or navigating disability support systems is highly regarded.

Requirements

The successful applicant will be required to hold or obtain:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • Current Victorian Driver Licence
