Whittlesea Community Connections (WCC) is seeking a passionate Youth Worker to support children and young people (10–25) across local schools. This new role strengthens middle‑years learning, rainbow inclusion, and youth empowerment through evidence‑informed programs and strong partnerships.
What you’ll do
- Coordinate and facilitate Homework Help programs for middle‑years students.
- Deliver empowerment and transition programs that build confidence, resilience and belonging.
- Support volunteers to engage safely and positively with children.
- Grow and strengthen student‑led rainbow groups in secondary schools.
- Co‑facilitate sessions, develop interschool events and build partnerships supporting LGBTIQA+ young people.
- Provide information, support and referrals for young people.
- Embed youth participation principles across all work.
- Uphold WCC’s child‑safe standards and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
About you
- Qualification and/or experience working with children and young people.
- Skilled in engaging diverse young people, including LGBTQIA+, CALD, newly arrived, refugee and asylum seeker communities.
- Confident facilitator with strong communication skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Committed to child safety and inclusive practice.
- Experience in schools or group programs highly valued.
- Community language skills welcomed.
