Community Integration Leader - North Western

Whitelion Youth
  • Based at Whitelion Hoppers Crossing
  • Full time, ongoing role
  • Great salary packaging options
  • Flexible work environment

Our vision at Whitelion Youth is for a world where no young person is left behind and where all young people have the right to equitable opportunities to reach their potential. Our staff and volunteers work to support young people at risk to build positive connections and meaningful pathways to work.

THE ROLE

Whitelion Youth is funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing to deliver the Community Integration Program (CIP) to connect young people aged 10-18 years residing in Out of Home Care (residential, foster and kinship care) with their local communities. This is done by focusing on activities of interest to the young people and connecting them with appropriate activities, clubs and organisations.

You will recruit, train and supervise volunteers to support and facilitate a young person's connection to their chosen activity. The connections formed between the young people, volunteer and people associated with the chosen activity will help the young person establish connections and relationships beyond the care system.

The program has an interface with the care system, via Child Protection, case managers, residential care facilities and carers and is strongly linked to service providers in the North West of Melbourne.

Some out of hours (evenings) work will be required to support young people and volunteers.

ABOUT YOU

You have previously delivered outcomes based, multi faceted human services programs that have consistently achieved contract performance targets, preferably in the youth sector.

You have solid knowledge of care services, and understand the issues confronting vulnerable young people, their families, and carers within out-of-home care.

With your strong stakeholder engagement skills, you are able to form strong partnerships for the benefit of a shared goal.

You are able to bring out the best in people with your supervisory experience, and you have previously managed volunteers, including recruitment, training and supervision, and their ongoing development.

Qualifications

Relevant qualifications in youth work, social work, community services or a related discipline and/or relevant experience in the field is required.

A current working with children check, driver's license, and willingness to undergo a Whitelion Police Check are required.

WORKING WITH US

At Whitelion Youth, you will be part of a supportive team environment driven by our collective purpose and shared values (commitment, collaboration, inclusion & accountability). Our leaders are committed to a culture in which you can thrive, and we want you to always bring your unique creativity to deliver on your role in the best way you know how!
