Our vision at Whitelion Youth is for a world where no young person is left behind and where all young people have the right to equitable opportunities to reach their potential. Our staff and volunteers work to support young people at risk to build positive connections and meaningful pathways to work.
Whitelion is funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing to deliver the Community Integration Program to connect young people aged 10-18 years residing in Out of Home Care (residential, foster and kinship care) with their local communities. This is done by focusing on activities of interest to the young people and connecting them with appropriate activities, clubs and organizations.
The program recruits, trains and supervises volunteers to support and facilitate a young person's connection to their chosen activity that is regular and frequent. It is anticipated that the connections formed between the young people, volunteer and people associated with the chosen activity will help the young person to establish connections and relationships beyond the care system.
The program has an interface with the care system, via Child Protection, case managers, and residential care facilities. Some out of hours (evenings) work will be required to support young people and volunteers.
You have previously delivered outcomes based, multi faceted human services programs that have consistently achieved contract performance targets, preferably in the youth sector.
You have solid knowledge of care services, and understand the issues confronting vulnerable young people, their families, and carers within out-of-home care.
With your strong stakeholder engagement skills, you are able to form strong partnerships for the benefit of a shared goal.
You are able to bring out the best in people with your supervisory experience, and you have previously managed volunteers, including recruitment, training and supervision, and their ongoing development.
At Whitelion Youth, you will be part of a supportive team environment driven by our collective purpose and shared values (commitment, collaboration, inclusion & accountability). Our leaders are committed to a culture in which you can thrive, and we want you to always bring your unique creativity to deliver on your role in the best way you know how! You will also benefit from:
We welcome applications from all suitable candidates and request that you provide a current copy of your resume and a cover letter (no more than 1 page) telling us why you would like to work with Whitelion Youth, highlighting your suitability based on the role requirements and skills mentioned above.
Applications can be addressed to: Lindsey Hogg, Program Manager - Connections.
