NDIS Cooking Instructor / Meal Prep Chef

Whipped Up

A bit about us

Whipped Up is an NDIS service provider, focusing on customised cooking classes and food-related experiences, primarily for children and adults with disabilities. About 90% of our work is within the disability space with some clients in aged care. We were founded in July 2018 and are a completely mobile business. We are a warm, friendly & inclusive company with a focus on creating fantastic experiences for clients, whilst also taking great care of anyone who is employed by us. We value a healthy work/life balance. Our team is closely-knit and supportive of each other always.

The role

A casual cooking instructor, teaching one-on-one cooking classes mostly within people's homes. This usually involves shopping for ingredients with or without the client, cooking with them in their home to either help improve their cooking skills and build their independence or create more ease in their lives. Our goal is to support their goals. We are dedicated to helping our clients build a healthy and passionate relationship and experience with food. This can also involve taking our clients out of their homes and on “foodie” excursions to create fun experiences around food.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A qualified chef or skilled home cook
  • Positive, enthusiastic and passionate about food
  • A self starter who works well both alone and with others
  • Someone willing to grow with a small business
  • Patient, compassionate and kind
  • An excellent communicator with a passion for people and building relationships
  • Adaptable to different client requirements and learning abilities
  • Experienced with working with children, the elderly or people with disabilities
  • Able to adapt recipes on a whim and cope well with changes in plans
  • Happy to use their own car for work and transporting their clients at times (travel allowance provided)
  • Available to work afternoon/early evening shifts if required
  • Fully vaccinated
  • Hold (or willing to obtain) a current Police Check
  • Hold (or willing to obtain) a Working with Children Check
  • Hold (or willing to obtain) First Aid Certification

Hours of work

The position is casual for the first three to six months, with the option to go part time or full time after. However, as a casual, we offer stability with shifts and you will still be paid for last minute cancellations. You will eventually be required to have at least 12 contact hours a week. Each client is usually a 2 - 3 hour shift. It may be a slow lead up to this capacity, the hours will increase over time. Clients are visited mostly on weekdays. Many clients, especially those of school age, require sessions after school hours so it is preferable if you are available to work these hours as well.

Location

  • Far East & North East suburbs
  • Bayside & South east Melbourne suburbs
  • Must be willing to travel up to 45mins to each client.

Start date

Immediate.

Remuneration

Casual hourly rate of $34.20, plus super and travel/car allowance.
