What we do
The Women’s Housing Company (WHC) Limited is a registered charity and Tier 1 Community Housing Provider managing over 1200 properties providing housing, accommodation and support services for women and children across Sydney, the Hunter and Coffs Harbour.
At WHC we provide housing and homelessness services to single women and women with children in NSW.
Last year, we housed almost 1,700 women and children, as well as supported over 300 homeless women. We have a particular focus on addressing the housing needs of older women, women with children, and women who have experienced domestic and family violence.

About the role
The Purposeful Pathways Coordinator coordinates the Purposeful Pathways program, primarily in the Cumberland LGA. The program partners with the Cumberland Women’s Health Centre and aims to support women into employment, study, or volunteering opportunities using a trauma-informed approach that recognises the challenges experienced during this process.
The role is responsible for delivering the program while directly supporting women seeking opportunities to support self-determination.
The role is short-term, three-day a-week, part-time, three-month fixed-term contract as a Level 4 employee under the Social, Community, Home Care, and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS 4). It will be located between Cumberland Women’s Health and our Surry Hills Office.
Key Accountabilities
Program Delivery and facilitation
- Support delivery of program activities over three months including: eight workshops, three group sessions, and per week, six one-on-one coaching sessions with participants
- Ensure all activities are trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and participant-centred
Participant engagement and case management
- Engage with existing 30 participants and enroll another 10 participants into the program
- Case manage participants with goal setting and support in entering employment, study or volunteer opportunities as well as any supports to overcome participant’s barriers
- Act as a key point of contact for participants and referring partners
- Represent the program at relevant community events or networking meetings
Relationship building and nurturing of partnerships
- Support Community Development Manager to develop relationships with services including organisation’s delivering similar programs
- Share knowledge and seek to create efficiencies by collaborating with other services
- Support Community Development Manager to proactively and creatively seek out opportunities to create mutual benefit with partners such as employers and private/corporate organisation’s
Administration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records including meeting notes, stakeholder relationship updates, project plans, emails, and other files
- Monitor participant progress and adapt support strategies accordingly
- Gather feedback and contribute to ongoing program improvement
- Collaborate with the Community Development Manager to complete final evaluation report
- Basic financial management including managing invoices, receipts, and reimbursements
- Provide information, data and case studies for regular progress reports required for funding acquittals.
Safeguarding and Compliance
- Uphold organisational policies around safeguarding, privacy, and ethical practice
- Escalate risks or concerns in line with established procedures
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge
- Degree or relevant experience in Social Work, Human Resources or relevant discipline;
- Experience working with clients/tenants presenting with complex challenges;
- Recent experience working, coaching, or supporting women in goal setting, ideally in the human resource context.
- Well-developed skills and attributes to coach, mentor, and support women in achieving their work goals, individually and in a group.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills;
- Networking skills to help build a community of support and partnerships for pilot are highly desirable
- Ability to plan and facilitate face to face or online individual and group discussions and processes, including possibly for CALD participants, low technology &/or low literacy skilled participants.
- Experience in program design and planning
- Experience conducting research and analysis, such as literature reviews
- Experience in program delivery such as facilitating workshops and/or training
- Experience evaluating programs including good understanding of Theory
- Capability and confidence to work with minimal supervision, in an office setting and ‘in the field’;
- Commitment to the principles of equity of access, cultural diversity, client service and accountability;
- Mandatory National Criminal History Check.
- Knowledge of social housing and the homelessness, health and welfare service system in NSW
- Intermediate skills in all Microsoft Office 2010 applications
- NSW Drivers license
- Mandatory National Criminal History Check and WWC check.
