This is an exciting opportunity to support wildlife health surveillance across Australia through data management, analysis, reporting, and stakeholder collaboration. Working with a broad network of wildlife health professionals and organisations, you'll contribute to the systems, projects and programs that help monitor and understand wildlife health issues nationwide.

Wildlife Health Australia (WHA) is the national body for wildlife health, established in 2002 as an Australian Government initiative. Our purpose is to advance wildlife health for a healthier future for all.

We bring together experts, governments and communities to understand and respond to wildlife health issues—building resilient systems, sharing knowledge, and embedding a One Health approach.

About the role:

In this role you'll play an important part in supporting Australia's wildlife health surveillance system through database management, data analysis and reporting, project coordination, and collaboration with stakeholders across the country.

What you’ll do:

• Maintain and support national wildlife health databases, ensuring information is accurate and complete.
• Assist with national database development and enhancement, system testing and the development of data standards and processes.
• Help to coordinate the collection and moderation of wildlife health information from surveillance and disease investigation activities.
• Conduct data analysis, interpretation and reporting to inform stakeholder decision-making.
• Support committees, focus groups and working groups through meeting coordination and administrative activities.
• Assist in the planning and delivery of projects and program activities as needed.
• Engage with wildlife health stakeholders across Australia and contribute to education and training.

An ideal candidate will possess the following, specific to the Project Officer role. We appreciate it can be challenging to strictly meet all selection criteria and encourage candidates who predominantly do, to consider applying.

 Selection Criteria

• Demonstrated experience in data management, including accurate record keeping, quality assurance, and maintaining dataset integrity.
• Ability to collect, analyse and report data.
• Excellent computer skills including experience with management of databases and large datasets.
• Skills in project management and an understanding of stakeholder engagement.
• Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communications.
• Demonstrated general administrative skills.
• Experience in building and maintaining genuine, respectful working relationships and collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge and interest in wildlife health, disease surveillance and management is highly desirable.

 Qualifications & Licences

The candidate must hold qualifications or demonstrate equivalent experience in one of the following disciplines. Candidates with expertise or experience across both of the following areas will be highly regarded:

• Data analytics, information systems or related discipline.
• Biological sciences, animal sciences, animal health, veterinary science, ecology, environmental health, or related discipline.

Salary for this position is $86,217 per annum plus superannuation.
