About the role
The role of the Team Leader is to provide day to day operational and clinical leadership for the MhAP program. Lead a team that works with diverse individuals and groups of at-risk young people and enable them to access relevant services and feel connected and safe in their communities. They are responsible for developing and fostering a cohesive, supportive and positive working experience for all staff members and for promoting safe and effective interactions with young people who are experiencing social and health-related challenges.
Your daily duties will be diverse however, will include:
- Provide professional leadership and assistance to program staff members
- Identify and implement solutions to any issues relating to the mobile nature of the program
- Participate in strategic planning and development activities relating to the program
- Make clear and timely assessments of any risk being carried by the program or the team and respond through appropriate risk management channels
- Provide regular and effective supervision for staff
- Encourage and facilitate professional development opportunities for staff
- Defuse difficult situations and seek assistance with critical incidents
- Facilitate team meetings and any other routine activities required to operate the program
- Provide culturally appropriate engagement, assessment, intervention and support services for young people accessing the MhAP program
About you
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in AOD, Youth Work, Community Service, Mental Health, Social Work or other relevant health qualifications
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in health care.
- A team player who is able to lead as well as work in a collaborative way
- Remain calm in challenging situations and work with young people who may present in an intoxicated state or with mental health concerns
- Establishes respectful professional relationships that have clear boundaries with consumers, staff and partner organisations
- Capacity and willingness to work flexible hours, including evening work
- Current Victorian Light Rigid drivers licence or a willingness to gain this licence
- Experience working with young people with complex needs in an outreach setting
- Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development and the key issues facing young people, including those from CALD communities
- Proven ability to oversee staffing, budgeting, data collection and reporting practices
