About the role

The Community Nurse - COVID Rooming House Engagement Project role sits within the Homelessness cluster at cohealth, which aims to improve the health, wellbeing, housing and social outcomes of people who use alcohol and other drugs and/or those experiencing homelessness in the inner North West of Melbourne. The COVID-19 Rooming House Engagement Program (RHEP) will utilise an assertive outreach model to engage with members of the homeless community who reside in rooming house accommodation settings, both community and private.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Nursing, registered Nurse Division 2
  • APHRA registration
  • At least three years of community nursing experience
  • Relevant professional postgraduate and/or lived experience as well as a sound understanding of the key issues affecting people experiencing homelessness
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of Harm Reduction, especially relating to AOD use.
  • Highly developed communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team including peer workers, AOD workers, Mental Health workers & collaborating with partner agencies, as well as working independently.
  • Experience working with, and an awareness of the issues that affect people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people from marginalised communities
  • A good understanding of Community Health, its principles and organisational forms

All Healthcare workers in Victoria are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19, you will need to provide evidence before commencing employment with cohealth.
