We’re seeking applications from suitably experienced and enthusiastic candidates for the role of Team Leader in Wentworth’s Housing Services Penrith Tenancy team.

The opportunity is a full-time permanent position based in our Penrith Office.

This role is classified as a Grade 7 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award, which currently attracts a gross salary of $103,221.40 per annum (base and super). As Wentworth is a not-for-profit organisation, salary packaging is available.

About the Role

This position reports to the Divisional Manager Housing Services and is responsible for leading and overseeing the Penrith Tenancy Team, and managing key relationships, partnerships, and networks to deliver a high-quality client service to those who access Wentworth’s services, including tenants.

As a Team Leader Housing Services Penrith, your duties may include (but are not limited to):

  • Leading and overseeing the Penrith Tenancy Team, ensuring all direct reports have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities
  • Managing team performance and development through mentoring, coaching, on-the-job training, individual performance planning, and formal and informal feedback delivery
  • Ensuring that team responsibilities (e.g. client service visits, rental and non-rental arrears management, tenancy management, responses to tenant complaints and appeals, tenancy-related issues such as anti-social behaviour) are handled promptly by staff within the bounds of Wentworth’s policies and procedures and applicable legislation
  • Developing a ‘client-centric’ service delivery culture based on the values of respect, integrity and compassion and the principles of personal accountability, collaboration and teamwork, to improve and sustain client satisfaction and outcomes

Selection criteria

  1. Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in the human services industry
  2. Demonstrated leadership and/or supervisory experience including experience leading a high-performance team and building a positive team culture
  3. Extensive experience in and understanding of applicable housing legislation, rental tribunal legislation, and social housing management policies, procedures and practices and the ability to understand, interpret, and apply standards, legislation, policy and guidelines in the provision of services to clients
  4. High level problem-solving and decision-making skills and ability to apply discretion in dealing with sensitive issues and environments
  5. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and relationships with a wide range of human service groups and organisations
