Help lead major mental health reform in Victoria to ensure that everyone is supported.

In this role you will lead the launch of Benalla & Wangaratta's Mental Health Local and manage its ongoing operations.

This is an amazing opportunity to shape the future of peer and community-led mental health services.

You'll work with the community to ensure the local community will get valuable and supportive mental health care in their community, no matter their experience.

You'll lead a diverse team who will welcome everyone who visits the Mental Health Local, as well as a person's family or carers. The support on offer will be relevant and available whenever it's needed.

This local support is a key recommendation of the recent Royal Commission into Victoria's mental health system and promises to make our community a better place to live.

Benalla, Wangaratta and Shire of Mansfield Local Adult and Older Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing Service.

Wellways, Albury Wodonga Health and ACSO are working together to provide mental health and wellbeing supports in Benalla & Wangaratta to ensure everyone can access treatment and care closer to home.  

The new Benalla & Wangaratta Mental Health Local will provide welcoming and inclusive support for people aged 26 years and over who are experiencing mental health challenges, including people with co-occurring alcohol and drug addiction treatment and care needs. 

We are working with the local community and people who have a personal experience of mental health issues and recovery to build these services so they are the best they can be.  Our services will be led by lived experience and coproduced with the local community so they are the best they can be.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager Mental Health & Wellbeing Services, the Operations Manager, (employed by Wellways) is a key senior leadership position that will play an integral role in changing and shaping the way mental health and wellbeing services and supports are delivered to the local community.

Strong leadership skills, innovative thinking and the ability to create a welcoming and supportive environment are essential in this new role.

You will establish and lead a large multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic mental health care that will make a difference for consumers, carers and the wider community.

To achieve this, you will create an inclusive, peer-led culture and inspire and motivate your team to succeed. Your leadership skills of coaching, developing, guiding and directing others will be equally important. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Allied Health/Nursing/ Masters in Psychology (clinical preferred)
  • Relevant professional registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • 5+ years mental health management experience
  • Demonstrated relevant clinical experience particularly in community mental health settings
  • Proven ability to embed lived experience across models of care
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • National Police Check, Working with Children Check, Evidence of right to work within Australia
  • Evidence of COVID-19 booster vaccination or valid medical exemption
