About this Position

Major gifts play a significant role in Wayside Chapel’s sustainability and impact. In a bid to enhance this critical portfolio, we're excited to introduce a new role – a second Philanthropy Manager. In this role you will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting and stewarding an assigned portfolio of major donors and major donor prospects; taking supporters on a journey of discovery and engagement with Wayside’s mission of creating community of no “us and them”. Key Responsibilities

Relationship Management

  • Working with the Major Gifts team, develop and implement overall strategy for the major donor portfolio to reach annual financial targets and KPIs
  • In conjunction with your Philanthropy counterpart, develop, manage and execute a donor pipeline and rolling stewardship plan, including the delivery of events, communications and other interactions
  • Develop and manage personal relationships with major donors to foster ongoing support of Wayside Chapel
  • Develop individual research profiles and engagement plans for major donors and ask supporters for gifts through face-to-face, telephone and written channels at the appropriate time
  • Prospect outside of the donor database for high-net worth philanthropists (including PAFs and Trusts) that align with Wayside Chapel’s mission
  • Receipting and thanking of donors in a timely manner
  • Utilise data-driven insights, engagement planning and supporter surveys to determine priorities and to ensure approaches are stakeholder centric
  • Collaborate across the Fundraising Team on the bi-annual appeals program (Winter and Christmas) and fundraising campaigns to personalise communication and collateral to major donors, and to secure matching funds for each campaign as needed
  • Work closely with others across Fundraising to assist in the cultivation and referral of potential major donors including cultivation events, personalised communications, etc.
  • Work with Programs staff and other teams on cross-department projects such as funding proposals, impact reports and engagement events.
  • Effectively collaborate with others to promote knowledge sharing, learning and development.

Reporting and Administration

  • Track the movement of each individual donors through the giving cycle. Creating comprehensive records for each donor, including meeting notes, email correspondence, communication preferences and engagement plans.
  • Provide the Board of Directors and Executive Management Team with relevant information about donors and partners with whom they maintain relationships, keeping them up to date on donor activities.

Other

  • Manage relationships and contracts with relevant external stakeholders such as consultants and partner agencies
  • Develop, monitor and report on fundraising budgets. Recognise barriers to reaching financial targets and find effective solutions
  • Adhere to the Policies and Procedures of Wayside Chapel and ensure adherence by staff and volunteers
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Senior Manager, Head or equivalent role
  • Undertake training as required and directed
  • Practice and promote appropriate self-care at an individual, team, and organisation-wide level.

Volunteer Management and Leadership

  • Work collaboratively to create volunteer opportunities and grow the Wayside Volunteer Program

Work Health and Safety

  • Accountable for complying with legislation and all Wayside WHS policies/procedures and instructions, reporting any hazards or safety issues to your manager, and performing all tasks in a manner that guards against risk to self and others within the workplace.
  • Undertake risk assessment and safety plans in collaboration with People and Culture

About you

Essential:

  • 4+ years’ career experience in a relevant relationship management role; fundraising, business development, sales, customer service. Ideally across major gift fundraising
  • Experience delivering financial results within a charity or business development role
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with demonstrated experience fostering relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to have fun, celebrate wins and embrace errors
  • Passion to make a positive impact on the community and a willingness to work within the Wayside Chapel ethos, support its values and advance its mission

Desirable:

  • A relevant degree, such as business, marketing or communications
  • Experience in fundraising and demonstrated results soliciting high value gifts
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practice within philanthropy, donor segmentation and major fundraising
  • Experience with a CRM database such as Salesforce
  • Familiarity with and understanding of the Wayside Chapel ethos and values.
