We are a NDIS Provider that currently supports over 330 people living with disabilities across our 2 sites, Notting Hill, and Hallam. We provide supported employment opportunities in packaging, assembly, warehouse, gardening, catering, and a large & devoted client base who share our vision and purpose.

About the Role

As a Support Mentor at Waverley Social Enterprises, you will be responsible for providing quality and ongoing training and support services to our Supported Team Members who have been placed into employment through our organisation.

You will use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to understand and address the Supported Team Member needs and challenges, and to help them achieve their employment goals. You will also coordinate and deliver training and support services that enhance their skills and performance, and monitor and evaluate their outcomes and impact.

You will play a pivotal role in enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities by providing tailored training and workplace supports. Your contributions will directly impact the quality of life and professional development of our diverse participant workforce.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Developing and implementing an Individual Employment Plan in collaboration with Supported Team Members, Care Communities, and other stakeholders
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with Supported Team Members, Care Communities, and other stakeholders to ensure clear and regular communication and feedback.
  • Identifying and addressing any barriers or challenges that may affect the Supported Team Members retention and performance in their employment, such as skills gaps, personal issues, or workplace conflicts.
  • Coordinating and delivering training and support services that meet the Supported Team Members and organisations needs and goals, such as mentoring, coaching, or referrals to other agencies or programs.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the outcomes and impact of the training and support services and providing reports and recommendations for improvement.
  • Supporting the promotion and awareness of the organisation’s services and benefits to the community and potential clients.

The ideal candidate

  • Certificate IV in Disability Studies or similar education/ experience.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to promoting a supportive work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate respectfully to all staff and clients
  • Valid Driver’s licence, and own transport.
  • An understanding of Supported Employment and the supported Wage System (advantageous)
  • Working With Children's check (or willing to obtain).
  • NDIS Clearance check (or willing to obtain).
  • The ability to work with and support participants with varying and challenging behaviours and complex needs, effectively adapting training methods and supports.
