As we are experiencing growth and on the trajectory towards our strategic vision, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to join our dynamic Grounds Maintenance team in Hallam.

About the Role

Waverley Social Enterprises is seeking a highly motivated Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, to provide guidance and support to a small team of energetic employees living with disabilities.

This is a supportive and hands on role which requires the person to assist the needs of supported employees (NDIS participants) in the workplace to train and guide with developing work-related skills. Waverley is seeking someone who has had relevant experience in instructing, training in a supervisory context, and understanding of working with individuals with diverse abilities.

This role involves a dual responsibility of providing supervision and assistance to supported employees and ensuring the efficient and safe completion of work according to agreed customer requirements.

Some of the Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to supported employees, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Identify training needs and provide ongoing support to employees to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of groundskeeping equipment, ensuring proper functioning and safety.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance overall productivity and efficiency, while maintaining high quality standards, meeting customer deadlines, and ensuring complete safety of the supported employees.
  • Conduct regular inspections of grounds to ensure compliance with established maintenance standards.
  • Ensure we achieve excellence in Customer Service and that we communicate with our customers regarding their requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Supervisory experience within a gardening and maintenance environment is preferred.
  • Understanding and appreciation for working with individuals with diverse abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to process improvement.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Whilst a Certificate 4 or above in Disability or Community Service would be an advantage it is not essential, as we can provide this training as a part of your professional development.
