We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Male Support Worker to provide dedicated care for a male client who is non-verbal and has Angelman Syndrome.
Key Responsibilities
Communication Support:
- Engage with the client using non-verbal communication tools (e.g., PECS, iPad apps, or gesture-based cues).
Community Engagement:
- Accompany the client on outings in Brighton and surrounding areas to encourage social participation.
Routine Management:
- Maintain a consistent and calming daily routine, assisting with personal care and mealtime requirements.
Safety & Monitoring:
- Provide active supervision, remaining mindful of balance/mobility needs and seizure management protocols.
Reporting:
- Document daily activities and any behavioural or health-related observations accurately.
Requirements
Experience:
- Previous experience working with Angelman Syndrome or supporting individuals who are non-verbal is highly desirable.
Gender:
- Male (This is a genuine occupational requirement to ensure the comfort and privacy of the client).
Communication Skills:
- Patience and proficiency in non-verbal communication strategies.
Certifications:
- Valid First Aid & CPR, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and Manual Handling certificate.
Logistics:
- A valid Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle are preferred for community access.
