The Wantok Musik Foundation is a not-for-profit music and social impact organisation who, for more than two decades have engaged with artists, musicians and communities from First Nation Australia, and across the Pacific to record, release and provide an avenue for the music, unique stories and traditional sounds of our region to have a global platform.

For 20+ years, Wantok Musik has been recognised as the preeminent label that focuses on platforming artists from First Nations across Australia and the Torres Strait and within the broader Pasifika region.

The Role

The General Manager role is a dynamic position that encompasses all aspects of label, media, project and financial management. It requires a professional with an eye for detail, a strong project management skillset, and someone who can pivot effortlessly and has flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

It’s a hugely rewarding role that provides the essential functions for all administrative aspects of running a record label, alongside end to end project management of our social impact work. The role requires a sound knowledge of the music industry, from booking and promotion to scheduling and distribution.

Underpinning success in this role is a solid suite of skills and the abilities including:

  • Project and budget management
  • Grants and funding
  • Licensing and publishing
  • Governance and advocacy
  • Day to day administration
  • Media, publicity and digital content
