We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and passionate Family Support Worker to join our team in Northam.

Wanslea provides a range of parenting and family support services in the Wheatbelt, including in home family support and delivery of a range of parenting programs to groups and individuals across the region. The family support worker role works alongside colleagues to deliver family support and parenting interventions, in the different programs, to meet assessed needs of parents and carers.

About you

The successful candidate will hold a Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services and demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of family functioning and its impact on the well-being of children especially in relation to Aboriginal families
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of child development, the impact of abuse and trauma
  • High level interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working within child protection, vulnerable children and families
  • Ability to work autonomously and be a valued team member
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally appropriate and secure manner
  • Sound understanding work health & safety responsibilities
  • Demonstrated understanding of ‘child safe’ environment

The Role

This role is responsible for the provision of best-practice family and parenting support for families with complex needs.

You will also need to:

  • Provide a satisfactory current National Police Clearance
  • A current Working with Children Card
  • Provide a current WA C Class Driver’s Licence
