The Victorian Trades Hall Council (VTHC) is looking for someone who wants to make a difference. We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic person at the start of their union journey to work as a Campaign Organiser.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Recruiting, mobilising and supporting activists in regular field and election campaign tactics
  • Campaign activities including creative campaigning, stunts, community stalls, doorknocking, phonebanks, online organising and community events
  • The Campaigns Organiser will also use an online database to track the progression of volunteers up the ladder of engagement

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A passion for social justice and a commitment to trade union values
  • A current valid driver’s licence
  • Highly developed verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrated experience in political or community organising
  • A passion for identifying and recruiting activists, working directly with and developing volunteers who make up our movement
  • An eagerness to work with unions, regional Trades and Labour Council and key community allies
  • A willingness to work after hours and on the weekend
  • A willingness to travel regionally and interstate if required
  • The ability to strategically manage large supporter lists
  • The ability to set priorities when faced with competing demands and the flexibility to take on unexpected challenges and changing circumstances when they arise
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and an ability to build rapport with a variety of people.
  • A demonstrated capacity to work well with others in a team environment
  • A capacity to exercise judgment, discretion and initiative within a politically sensitive environment
  • Competent skills in IT and social media

The position is based at Trades Hall in Carlton, Victoria, and will report to the Secretary through the Campaigns Team Lead. Attractive salary package, including a monthly RDO and 12% superannuation.
