VMIAC is the peak Victorian non-government organisation for people with lived experience as consumers of mental health services. We work to ensure consumer voices are heard, respected, and influential in shaping systems, services, and communities.
Owned, governed, managed, and staffed by people with mental health consumer lived experience, VMIAC builds leadership, participation, and collective action to strengthen the consumer movement across Victoria.
As Membership and Participation Coordinator, you will help more people connect with VMIAC, participate in meaningful ways, and move into leadership, advocacy, and collective action opportunities.
You will coordinate member engagement, support onboarding and participation pathways, facilitate forums and group activities, and contribute to campaigns, consultations, and member communications, including CRM-based engagement.
Reporting to the General Manager - Movement and Influence, you will help build strong member connections, support psychologically safe participation, and turn community engagement into momentum for change.
This is a lived experience consumer position. We are looking for someone who has personal experience of mental health challenges, trauma, or emotional distress and has used mental health services to support their wellbeing.
You will bring experience in community services, engagement, advocacy, participation, or a related field, along with strong communication skills, sound organisation, and the ability to build trust with diverse people and groups.
Relevant qualifications, or an equivalent mix of experience, education, or training, will be well regarded. You should also be confident using Microsoft Office and client databases or CRM systems; knowledge of social organising is an advantage.
Most importantly, you will be able to reflect on your lived experience in relation to others and contribute to inclusive, respectful, and psychologically safe participation.
A Police Check and Victorian Working with Children Check are required prior to commencement of employment.
We strongly encourage applications from First Nations people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, d/Deaf and Disabled people, and people from the LGBTIQA+ community. We offer a hybrid workplace, flexible arrangements, and reasonable adjustments to support staff wellbeing.
