The Victorian Aboriginal Children and Young Peoples Alliance (VACYPA) is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) dedicated to improving outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people, and their families. We work to influence policy, elevate the voices of Aboriginal children and young people, and ensure Aboriginal community-led approaches are central to decision-making.
The Alliance advocates for systemic change that reflects the strength, rights, and resilience of Aboriginal communities, upholding principles of self-determination, cultural safety, and Aboriginal-led solutions.
The Senior Project Officer – Workforce plays a key role in VACYPA’s efforts to build a strong, culturally capable workforce across its member ACCOs. Recognising that a skilled and culturally grounded workforce is essential to delivering quality services for Aboriginal children and families, this position focuses on creating sustainable education-to-employment pathways, strengthening ACCO engagement in the Community and Social Services Graduate Program, and building the higher education sector’s understanding of what it means to work within an ACCO.
The role works directly with VACYPA’s member ACCOs, regional tertiary education providers, and sector stakeholders to advance workforce development outcomes that are community-led, culturally safe, and aligned with VACYPA’s mission to see all Aboriginal children and young people thrive and be raised safely in Aboriginal families and communities.
This position is pursuant to the ‘special measures’ provision at section 8 of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth). Only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants to apply.
VACYPA offer salary packaging, flexible work arrangements, including work from home and opportunities for professional development. We are a small, dedicated team who live and work across regional Victoria. We work directly with Aboriginal organisations to make a difference in their communities.
