The Trainee Coordinator will assist VACCHOs members, Students and the RTO to onboard and manage Traineeships across the Indigenous Health Workforce Traineeship, The First Nations Aboriginal Health Traineeship and other policy initiatives related to traineeships across a range of disciplines in line with the Skills First and ASQA standards. Travelling to students workplaces across Victoria at various times across their qualification is required by the standards and VACCHO’s best practice benchmarks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertake activities to promote the range of Traineeship programs offered by VACCHO
  • Provide advice to VACCHO’s members on funding opportunities available to them and trainees including application requirements and support to access
  • Meet with Trainees face to face at their workplace at regulatory required time frames (usually 2ce per year dependant on the qualification
  • Meet with Trainees via online platform at least three times per year
  • Keep accurate records to allow for compliance reporting to multiple funding bodies.
  • Work with all stakeholder groups to provide support to trainees, VACCHO’s member ACCHO’s and in some cases, mainstream providers to facilitate the matching, progress and completion of traineeships.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Understanding of the Victorian ACCO sector (specifically VACCHO’s member organisations)
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience using Microsoft applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project Management) combined with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with VETrack
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply as your cultural and lived experiences are central to the work we do.

Highly Regarded

  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and commitment to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and health.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal peoples, Communities, and organisations, in a culturally safe, and appropriate, manner.
  • Demonstrated understanding of LGBTQIASB+ issues and experience with LGBTQIASB+ people via professional engagement, employment or lived experience.

Personal Attributes

  • Demonstrated capacity to manage sensitive information, maintain confidentiality and always remain impartial.
  • A flexible approach, with strong organisational and planning skills, including the ability to effectively manage time and workload, prioritise

Key selection criteria specific to the role

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of people to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and as an effective team member, promoting cooperation and commitment to achieve goals.
  • Ability to learn and implement traineeship compliances under ASQA or Skills First regulations
  • Ability to travel to various locations across Victoria
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience relevant to this role.
